The 2021 budget will not include new projects except for necessity

The Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, announced today, Sunday, that the 2021 budget will not include the inclusion of new projects except in case of extreme necessity and upon a decision from the Council of Ministers.

A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the ministry's directions are to address the repercussions of the health and financial crisis in Iraq and that the ministry's priorities for the current and future stage, in light of the repercussions produced by the double crisis, represented by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the lack of revenues as a result of low oil prices. .

He added, "The minister chaired the meeting devoted to discussing the review of the paths of the five-year national development plan, 2018-2022, and other strategies, which was held in the ministry, and was attended by the ministry's undersecretaries and general managers in it, as well as a number of experts and specialists in economic and development affairs."
